It is the legacy of my loving and caring Aunt Lossie. Lossie’s beauty salon opened in 1961. It was a pleasure of mine to step into her shadow and continue to service women in and out of West Philly. A woman I look up to is Tracee Ellis Ross, her style and free spirit makes me smile every time I see a picture or post from or for her. Her style never disappoints lol, and she does it so effortlessly. I love how she makes it fun as well. Her stand for woman rights, equality, and black people as a whole makes me feel connected to her, also I’m a major fan of Black-ish lol. What advice would you give to a woman who is considering starting her own business? I would tell my fellow woman ALWAYS believe in YOU! Things may feel hard, and you may feel like giving up but remember you were built for this! We are designed to be nothing less but GREAT my queen! |
Have you faced adversities while beginning your company?
If so, how did you overcome them? Yes! Being a small business is difficult especially when you are playing every position. Sometimes it becomes so overwhelming and feels unobtainable with certain goals. However I stay faithful on Gods word and try my best at anything that is thrown my way. I know that everything isn’t always going to go as planned however as long as I try I know I didn’t quit. What is your favorite part of what you do? What is the hardest part about what you do? My favorite part about the business is creating and picking the pieces for the children. I get excited when I see them put it on and have fun just enjoying life. I would have to say the hardest part sometimes for me is content with social media. Trying to find the perfect thing to post and connecting with my audience. Shop Sippycupkids Co. Today!

A woman I look up to is my Mama! Especially since she is a business owner and has been for many years. I was able to see the struggle of a business owner firsthand. She never gave up! She went harder! That itself motivated me to never give up. What advice would you give to a woman who is considering starting her own business? Some advice I would give a woman who is starting a new business is Patience!!!! I cannot stress it enough. You see people on social media and how well their business is doing, and you want that to be you! And it will be! Work hard, stay consistent and crush your goals! Just remember “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” ―Nelson Mandela |
Have you faced adversities while beginning your company?
If so, How did you overcome them? I am sure many of you know how hard starting a business could be! From trying to get your business out there, finding the right audience, to profiting from your business. It was times I would make hundreds of dollars in a day and it is times I would not make a dollar all month, but I must always remind myself… “patience”. Most of these super successful businesses did not happen overnight, but they did not give up and that is why they are where they are now. What is your favorite part of what you do? What is the hardest part about what you do? My favorite part about Sensation D is being able to help people be more confident within themselves. I feel like I’ve done my part when a customer writes me telling me they see progress in their skin. The hardest part of it all is juggling my business between working full-time, being in school and being a mom. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed I think to myself “is it really worth it?”. Once I ask myself that I snap right out of it and get back to business. You don't want to miss out!

Have you faced adversities while beginning your company?
If so, How did you overcome them? When starting and running a business, you will always face some kind of difficulty. I’ve learned to not let it stress me. In fact, I would take a step back to figure out a new way to handle the problem. What is your favorite part of what you do? What is the hardest part about what you do? I enjoy taking the time choosing the scrub attire for our hard working heroes. I look at details, fabric and style to make sure all the healthcare workers feel the most comfortable while working those long shifts. The hard part is MARKETING! Boy, that is challenging lol. Tell us about a woman you look up to and why? I know everyone looks up to their mother. I truly look up to mine! Since I was little, I always admired how hard working she was and still is! She always found a way to make things work. She wanted to provide a life for her children that she didn’t have, and that she did. I appreciate her for making me into the woman that I am today. I know it was hard Mama but I hope I’m making you proud! What advice would you give to a woman who is considering starting her own business? Have patience, even when things seem to be taking longer than they should. Stay focus, determined and nurture your business as if it is your baby, and watch it grow! |

Tell us about a woman you look up to and why?
There are a few women I look up to but If I had to pick, it would be my Aunt Mary. To know her is to love her, she has a heart of gold and strength out of this world. No matter what she faced she never gave up, and she never lost faith in God. She's showed me what it looks like to have unmovable faith. When I was younger I use to spend time with her and I would leave with so much knowledge. Now as an adult our conversations are still full of wisdom, things I would never understand as a child. So Aunt Mary if you read this thank you for the wisdom and unconditional love, I am the woman I am today because of the role you play in my life. What advice would you give to a woman who is considering starting her own business? My advice for any woman trying to build a business, Seek God, embrace your story no matter how crazy it may be. Never give up, and don't be scared to take a step back and start over. Surround yourself with friends who will hold you accountable, pray with and for you, and who’s willing to give you the push you need when you feel like you want to give up. |
Have you faced adversities while beginning your company? If so, how did you overcome them? While building Life After, my biggest adversity was myself. In order for me to over come myself I had to take a step back, and go back to the drawing board and honestly seek God for guidance. I also had to find myself, and be ok with sharing my story.
What is your favorite part of what you do? What is the hardest part about what you do? My favorite part of being a grief coach is meeting new people and know that together we are about to make a big difference in their lives. The hardest part is knowing that everyone is not going to be open to the challenge, and this is because it's my heart's desire to help people. I really want people to understand grief and for them to know that it's ok to deal with it. Did we forget to mention she also has a BOMB podcast?!
